Welcome to Classic Pet Portraits!
Commissioned portraits of your beloved pets, hand-painted in oil by Leah Knecht, a classically trained artist from the world-renowned Art Center College of Design. I will consult with you to create a unique, customized portrait that captures your pet's personality. From your favorite photo, I will enhance the beauty inherent within, bringing out the details, and produce a portrait you will be proud to own. All paintings are done traditionally, not digitally, using high quality materials. I offer reasonable prices, personalized service, and a quick turnaround. I am so confident you will be happy with both my service and the finished portrait, that I offer a guarantee. I am based in Pasadena, CA, but can work with you anywhere, and ship the finished portrait securely.
I specialize in dogs, horses, and cats, but can paint any type of animal. The style is detailed, realistic, and timeless. Backgrounds can be changed; multiple pets combined into one painting, or other requests can be accommodated. Other mediums can be commissioned, such as charcoal or graphite drawings, for less cost than a oil painting. The quality will always be excellent. These portraits make great gifts for animal lovers, or as a special commemoration of a departed pet. My goal is to provide my clients with the best possible portrait of their pets, something they will cherish forever, and that will last for generations.
I also offer a special "Friends and Family" rate to all all military members, active or veteran; service/volunteer dog owners and handlers; and volunteers at animal rescue organizations.
Before and After Example: Oil on panel, 16" x 20"

The above photo was the main pose, but was blurry and had no detail, so I used different photos for their faces, and enhanced the background color so they stand out.
“Leah:
My wife, Mary Ann surprised me with an early Christmas present, the portrait you painted of Ginger and Gilligan. The portrait is fantastic; it captures the essence of both of them. We almost lost Ginger (my sweetie) to congestive heart failure a few weeks ago. So every time I look at the portrait I know I’ll have her the rest of my life. I love it!
Best regards,
Paul Hines”
